Genshin Impact PC download checklist for a clean setup

HoYoverse currently lists Windows 10 64-bit, a sixth-generation Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen equivalent, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 or equivalent discrete graphics card and DirectX 11 as the minimum PC specifications. The recommended tier lists Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, a seventh-generation Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor or better, 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 6 GB or better and DirectX 11. Both tiers list 110 GB of available storage, and the support page notes that storage needs can increase with future updates. Official requirements^[2]

These are compatibility requirements. They do not select a graphics preset or predict the download time on a particular connection. HoYoverse also recommends an SSD for a smoother experience. Treat that as an official storage recommendation, not as a RigCircuit benchmark and not as an upgrade recommendation, which would belong to the Hardware category rather than to a Setup article.

Use the following preflight before opening the installer.

The table separates the official requirements from RigCircuit's preparation advice. Nothing in it requires a registry change, an unofficial mirror or a third-party download manager. Every check either observes the machine or writes a note, so nothing in this section needs undoing.

HoYoverse's download guidance says that PC users can download the game from the website. Mobile users use their platform store instead. Start from the official Genshin Impact download page^[1] and keep the download route in the setup notes.

1. Close any running Genshin Impact session.
2. Open the official PC download page.
3. Download the current official launcher offered for PC.
4. Install or open the launcher in the selected local folder.
5. Select Genshin Impact in the launcher and confirm the displayed install path.
6. Start the resource download and leave enough space for resource verification after the progress bar reaches 100 percent.
7. Record the launcher name, visible game version and selected drive.

The exact button labels can change as HoYoverse updates its launcher. If a label in this checklist does not match the installed client, follow the current HoYoverse instructions and confirm the game location before relinking. This page does not claim that RigCircuit tested the current client flow on a PC.

HoYoverse explains that a download reaching 100 percent may still be verifying game resources. If the process remains at that stage, the official installation guidance says to allow the check to finish and contact support if it remains stuck for an extended period. Do not interrupt the process solely because the download counter has reached 100 percent. Official installation guidance^[4]

If a download fails, HoYoverse recommends checking the connection, confirming available storage, using the launcher's Repair Now option, restarting the device and reinstalling from the official source if the issue continues. Apply one step at a time and write down the error before moving to the next step. Official download and update guidance^[3]

The first launch is a separate setup checkpoint. A completed download is not enough to establish that the client is ready.

1. Open the launcher after the resource check has finished.
2. Confirm that Genshin Impact is linked to the expected local resource folder.
3. Sign in through the normal official launcher screen.
4. Start the game and wait for the main menu to load.
5. Record the visible game version and any error code.
6. Close the client normally and reopen it once to confirm the same route.

A HoYoverse support page confirms that HoYoPlay can relink an existing installation: on the game's page in the launcher, a Find Game option near the download button opens a file browser to select the existing installation folder, and the launcher then switches to Launch or Update once it recognizes the files. The same page documents an official repair tool as a fallback when relinking does not resolve the issue. Official launcher relink guidance^[6] Until this exact route is confirmed against the live client, do not delete the existing game folder, and record the folder path so it can be pointed at again if needed.

The safest editorial starting point is a single-change routine. Read the reversibility note under the table before starting step 4.

Steps 1 to 3 leave the install in place. Step 4 does not. A reinstall discards the existing local install, and once it starts there is no way back to the previous state except by downloading the resources again. Treat it as a last action after the record from steps 1 to 3 is written down, and keep the original account details and the new install path.

Do not apply all four actions at once. If the issue disappears, the record should show which step preceded the change. That makes the result useful for a later field-tested version without turning an individual recovery into a universal promise.

HoYoverse asks players to include the error code, the steps already attempted, a screenshot or recording, the device and operating system details and the time and region when the issue occurred. For some PC launch issues, the support page also identifies DownloadError.log in the Genshin Impact data folder. Keep personal account information out of any public screenshot.

The support route is the correct next step when the official repair and reinstall paths do not resolve the problem. Avoid downloading replacement executables from forum posts or disabling security tools without a documented, reversible reason.

It has not been confirmed against a local installation of the current PC client, and launcher labels can change between builds. Before relying on an option tied to installed files, check the current Help Center and confirm the installed build, free storage and selected drive.
